Cancer Trials Australia is a consortium of world-class opinion leaders and highly talented researchers and managers undertaking oncology clinical trials. These experienced individuals support and mentor our leaders for the future. Cancer Trials Australia is an organisation established to coordinate clinical trial management at its member sites thereby delivering efficient outcomes for sponsor companies and access for patients to new products and therapeutic regimens in the treatment of their cancer. The members are currently seven Melbourne and Victorian country based hospitals and two research institutes with international reputations for first class cancer research and treatment. Established in 1993 as the Centre for Developmental Cancer Therapeutics (CDCT), Cancer Trials Australia is now Australia’s premier early phase cancer trials group.

With a strong focus on early drug development in oncology and haematology, Cancer Trials Australia’s aim is to improve cancer treatment through clinical and scientific research, with a strong emphasis on integration of biological endpoints to clinical trials.

Cancer Trials Australia brings together prestigious academic research, preclinical and clinical oncology services and translational laboratory facilities under a ‘one-stop-shop’ concept, which includes a full range of clinical trial management services. Our strong tradition of scientific and medical research excellence has created a skills base that makes us one of the world leaders engaged in cancer clinical trials and research innovation.

Cancer Trials Australia is an associate member of Bio21 and an affiliate of The University of Melbourne. As an associate member of Bio21, Cancer Trials Australia is able to take an active role in building Victoria’s biotechnology strengths. An affiliation with The University of Melbourne allows intellectual interaction at a high level within the academic arena where many of our founding members have faculty positions.

All of our members are geographically located within close proximity to each other in the heart of Victoria’s pharmaceutical and biotechnology hub.
